Siphon style coffee pot – a glass coffee pot suitable for Eastern aesthetics

Only by tasting the taste of a cup of coffee can I feel my emotions.
It’s best to have a leisurely afternoon, with some sunshine and quietness, sit on a soft sofa and listen to some soothing music, such as Diana Krall’s “The Look of Love”.

The hot water in the transparent siphon coffee pot makes a sizzling sound, slowly rising through the glass tube, soaking in coffee powder. After gently stirring, the brown coffee flows back into the glass pot below; Pour the coffee into a delicate coffee cup, and at this moment, the air is filled with not only the aroma of coffee.siphon pot coffee

The drinking habits of coffee are somewhat related to ethnic cultural traditions. The common household coffee brewing utensils in the West, whether they are American drip coffee pots, Italian mocha coffee pots, or French filter presses, all have a common feature – one quick, which is in line with the direct and efficiency oriented characteristics in Western culture. Easterners with traditional agricultural culture are more willing to spend time polishing their beloved items, so the siphon style coffee pot invented by Westerners has been well received by Eastern coffee enthusiasts.
The principle of a siphon coffee pot is similar to that of a mocha coffee pot, both of which involve heating to generate high pressure and drive hot water to rise; The difference lies in the fact that the mocha pot uses rapid extraction and direct filtration, while the siphon coffee pot uses soaking and extraction to remove the source of fire, reduce the pressure in the lower pot, and then the coffee flows back to the lower pot.

This is a very scientific coffee extraction method. Firstly, it has a more suitable extraction temperature. When the water in the lower pot rises to the upper pot, it happens to be 92 ℃, which is the most suitable extraction temperature for coffee; Secondly, the combination of natural soaking extraction and pressure extraction during reflux process achieves a more perfect coffee extraction effect.
A seemingly simple coffee brewing contains many details; High quality fresh water, freshly roasted coffee beans, uniform grinding, tight fit between the upper and lower pots, moderate stirring, mastery of soaking time, control of separation and upper pot time, and so on. Every subtle step, when you grasp it delicately and accurately, will achieve a truly perfect siphon style coffee.

Set aside your worries and relax, slow down your time a bit, and enjoy a pot of siphon coffee.
1. Boil a siphon style coffee pot with water, clean and disinfect it. Pay attention to the correct installation method of the siphon coffee pot filter.
2. Pour water into the kettle. The pot body has a scale line for 2 cups and 3 cups for reference. Be careful not to exceed 3 cups.
3. Heating. Insert the upper pot diagonally as shown in the picture to preheat the upper pot.
4. Grind coffee beans. Choose high-quality single item coffee beans with moderate roasting. Grind to a medium fine degree, not too fine, because the extraction time of a siphon coffee pot is relatively long, and if the coffee powder is too fine, it will be extracted excessively and appear bitter.
5. When the water in the current pot starts to bubble, pick up the upper pot, pour in the coffee powder, and shake it flat. Insert the upper pot diagonally back into the lower pot.
6. When the water in the lower pot boils, straighten the upper pot and gently press it down to rotate to insert it properly. Remember to insert the upper and lower pots correctly and seal them properly.
7. After the hot water has completely risen, gently stir in the upper pot; Stir in reverse after 15 seconds.
8. After about 45 seconds of extraction, remove the gas stove and the coffee begins to reflux.
9. A pot of siphon coffee is ready.
